In the kettle, Old Numbskull is charged with the classic English aroma hop varieties Fuggles and Goldings as well as a new English variety that is more pungent and intense. Numbskull is dry-hopped with a combination of the more aromatic British varieties and the highly aromatic (domestic) Mt. Hood and Centennial hops. Abundant quantities of the freshest hops and top-quality British malts, along with special water treatment and fermentation with our championship yeast strain produce a fine, BIG ale, which is complex and intriguing. Exotic fruit aromas, along with clean ethanol, caramel, honey and toasty notes are present in the nose. At five months of age, the Numbskull flavor begins malty and the hops become more evident from the middle to the finish and linger nicely in the aftertaste. The aroma notes also show themselves in the flavor.
