Karl Strauss Brewery started way back in the mid 1980s. It was founded by the partnership of Matt Rattner and Chris Cramer. The idea to open a microbrewery in San Diego came from Chris’ inspiration from his travel to Australia. With the help of Karl Strauss’ great ideas for beers, the brewery was born and began its busy operation. Karl Strauss Brewery believes in ‘come as they go’ brewing techniques. The brewery places heavy emphasis on promoting the essence of San Diego through their beers. With wide variety of beer offerings, Karl Strauss Brewery has gone through tremendous expansion over the years.
