All whiskey is distilled from fermented grain. It’s essentially beer, just not a beer you’d want to drink. Tim Obert and Clint Potter -- two 23-year-old college buddies who loved homebrewing and distilling -- had an idea: What if you distilled whiskey from a finished, high-quality beer?
In 2012, they bought a copper pot still. Tim home-brewed a beer and Clint distilled it. It was awful. But over a year they experimented with hundreds of batches, and found a formula that worked. The response from friends and family was tremendous. They realized they were onto something, and in August of 2013 Seven Stills was born.
